Rohkost ist für gewöhnlich sehr gesund, doch angesichts von EHEC sollte aktuell eher darauf verzichtet werden. Dennoch kann man Kopfsalat, Gurken und Tomaten nach wie vor verzehren, sollte allerdings darauf achten, dass das Gemüse unbedingt gekocht wird. Im Fall von Tomaten sind leckere Rezepte (Geröstete Tomaten, Tomatensuppe, gefüllte Tomaten - anstelle von Paprika) vielfältig zu finden, doch Gurken und Kopfsalat werden nur selten gekocht. Doch auf Salat kann man kochen und eine leckere Salatcreme zubereiten.
